The single player might be ok, but the actualy multiplayer was horrible.
The aliens are too small, the level they included is boring as shit.
the controls felt clunky.
the whole sysem of getting into a game was confusing and clunky.
the predator is so overpowered, he just kept popping oout of nowhere and killing me in one hit.
the marines gun felt like a pee shooter.
the alien wall thing got really disorienting.
Aliens are about as big as in the movies, they just crouch when they walk.
The map aint the best, no.
The controls and system of finding a game is from a 10 month old console code. The matchmaking in particular will be totally revamped for release.
I find predators underpowered, I guess you kinda need to learn how to tackle them. It aint a jump in and expect to own everything game, you have to work at learning how to play.
Aim for the head at medium distance, and horde grenades. You'll find the gun starts being far more effective than meets the eye.
The alien wall climbing is very disorientating. This isn't a problem with the game, more of the whole concept of alien. You do start to get used to it though.
With good map control, use of motion tracker, smart use of sprint/stims, nade hoarding, and using block, I've come 1st in easily 90% of my games as marine. Knowledge of the first games helps but that aint to say a new player couldn't learn in a month or so, perhaps faster. It's all about being the smarter player.
Overall I'm not a huge fan of the demo and wish it was held back, but it's definitely worth a look in at the full game. I can tell you that £19.99 is worth the singleplayer at least.
